Head Coach Bill Swan

William H. Swan III was born in Connellsville, PA in 1967.  He is the son of William Jr. and Andrea Swan.  He has younger sisters Kelly and Amy and a younger brother Tim. Bill is married to Susan (Kraus) Swan of Shaler.  They have three children:  Jacob 16, Tyler 14, and Logan 12.  All three boys are students in the Hempfield Area School District (Jake - High School; Tyler - Harrold Middle School; Logan - Harrold Middle School).

Bill was raised in Connellsville and graduated from Connellsville Area H.S. in 1985.  Following graduation, Bill attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.  He graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and a Minor in Secondary Education.  Bill received his Masters Degree in Secondary School Counseling from IUP.   Currently, Bill serves as a Mathematics teacher at Hempfield Area High School.

Bill has been coaching basketball since age 20 where he began as a Junior Varsity Coach at Wilmington Senior H.S.  He is entering his 8th season at Hempfield Area.

Assistant Coach Rob Stauffer

Rob was born and raised in Freeport, Pennsylvania.  After graduating from Freeport Area High School in 1997, he attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe.  At SVC, Rob was a member of the Bearcat basketball team for four years and served as co-captain in his final year.  He graduated with a mathematics degree in 2001.  Rob was a long-term sub at Hempfield Area High School for the 2001-2002 school year before moving to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

At East Stroudsburg High School-South, Rob was a mathematics teacher and head boys’ varsity coach for three years.  In the fall of 2005, Rob returned to the Pittsburgh area to resume teaching mathematics and coaching basketball at Hempfield Area High School.

Assistant Coach Torrey Sochacki

Torrey Sochacki was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 1985.  He is the son of Tom and Karen Sochacki.  Torrey has an older brother Tom, and two older sisters, Kari and Kristie.

A Hempfield graduate, Torrey was a member of the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 Hempfield Area Spartan basketball teams.  He was the leading scorer his senior year and ended with over 1,000 career points.

Torrey is currently attending the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg where he is majoring in Psychology.  He returns to coaching after taking a year off to play basketball at UPG.
